Press Release 12th March 2010
Simon and Mark finished their epic sponsored event in Vrysoulles on Wednesday 3rd March at 12.30 with a large group meeting them to cheer them over the line at Fans Bar. Among those present was the Chairman and the Treasurer of the RNA who presented them with a cheque for €500.

They then relaxed and enjoyed a couple of drinks before making their way back to Paralimni for a well earned rest. After 6 days in the saddle and covering more than 350Km there were only 2 more functions for Simon to sing at.

Friday Night at The Lodge in Dekheleia Road saw a packed house with representatives of the Cyprus Kidney Patients Association present and they were treated to an evening of entertainment by Simon and Brian Parsons (Three’s a Crowd), Ian Saxman, Greg Orton and Lynn Barter with a buffet and dancing right through until midnight.

Saturday night saw the event move to the Poseidonio Restaurant in Protaras where Simon opened the evening making his final appearance of the event as “The Urban Cowboy” relaxing with a set of Country Music by Garth Brooks, Kenny Rogers, Glenn Campbell and Keith Whitely. This was followed by a great show by Lynn Barter and Jude Bovey singing together for only the second time as “Pure and Simple” and they were joined by guest guitarist Dean Ross.

There was no peace for the wicked as early on Sunday morning Simon and Mark went on a social ride of 35Km around Ayia Napa, Protaras and surrounding areas before they packed up Marks bike for the flight home that evening.

Simon said “I would like to thank our main sponsors for the event www.look4us.com who have been fantastic in all of the support that they have given us, Jim, Sue and Bob seemed to be around every corner and their enthusiasm was superb.

We would like to thank all of the venues that allowed us to perform: Lisa and Julian at Charlie’s Bar in Paphos, George and Lisa at the Hillview Restaurant in Pissouri, Ken, Bob, Marilyn and Andy at The British Legion in Limassol, Ross, Duchy and Greg for supporting us at Oroklini, John and Chris at Blueberries in Ayia Napa, Nick and Lou at The Lodge Beach Bar in Larnaca and Geoff, Wendy, Zeni and Milena at Poseidonos Restaurant in Protaras.

To all of the other sponsors who provided us with accommodation and supplies we thank you.

To the 2 support and logistic members of our team, Ade and Brian, from the bottom of our hearts we thank you for looking after our safety and taking care of everything for us, we couldn’t have done it without you and our sincere thanks to your wives, Wendy and Lainy, for letting us take you away from them for a week.

To Lesline and all of the Crew at Rock FM, Rosie Charalambous at CYBC, Nathan Morley and Chris Yearly at Radio Napa, Rosie and Sherrie at Scala News and the Oroklini News, The Cyprus Mail and especially Natalie Reed at Yassou Magazine, thank you all for the fantastic support that you have given us in the media coverage of this event as without your help we could not have made the event such a success.

To the people that came to join us on parts of the ride: The Paphos Posse, Paul Clarke, Steve Edwards and Ron Vincent thanks for joining us and making our journey special we hope to ride out with you in the future.

Love and respect to all of the other musicians and singers who supported me in the evenings, Ross Neil, Dutch Peter, Greg Orton, Ian Saxman, Dean Ross, Lynn Barter and Jude Bovey. Thanks for your help guys in everything you did for us.

To my little brother Mark thank you so much for taking the time to come and share this experience together. The memories of the event will stay with me long after the pain in my legs has gone. I couldn’t have done it without your help and inspiration. I am looking forward to you returning to the sunshine soon so that we can ride out again soon. Thank you!!

To my lovely wife Lynn, a long planning phase, many hours of training and the actual event meant that we spent less time together and missed out on doing other things. I could not have done it without your love and encouragement which you have always given me. Thank you so much xx.

Lastly to everyone who contributed their hard earned money to this charity event and to all those who came to see us at the venues at night, I have one thing to say and that is that I considered that my part was easy, as all I had to do was to jump on my bike, get my head down and push the pedals, then sing at night. Your part was far more important as by your contributions you will help the lives of those who are suffering from Kidney Disease making a real difference to them and for this you all deserve the greatest of thanks”
